Happy National Puppy Day!

Puppies stealing toys from each other!

Our little ones are now fully engaged in terrorizing each other, they can’t stand when one puppy has a toy, they all need the same toy! Watch the red squeak toy get passed around and stolen from each other as well as the water bottle.

Everyone is getting bathed (again) and groomed this week! Look out for those pictures coming soon!

What’s happening in week 6 – diet and playing

They are getting big, food experimentation is almost complete and everyone is doing great! No reactions and they eat everything in front of them.

Foods they have been exposed to so far have been:

  • Raw lamb, beef, egg
  • Cooked egg, chicken, beef, fish
  • Oatmeal, potatoes, rice
  • Peas, carrots
  • Yogurt, cottage cheese
  • 4 different puppy kibble foods

Each meal is customized and prepared to ensure a balance between proteins, starches, carbs, vegetables and kibble to give them the nutrition they need for optimal growth.

And for your viewing pleasure ….

Puppies playing!
(All cage doors are open if you are wondering)
The cages are never closed at this age, we want them to see the cages as a safe place they can visit

Week 5 – tug of war and sleep rolling

As we were playing and watching the pups, these two things happened, I held a cat toy and they spotted it, I held it over them and they started playing tug of war with it. After the tug of war they migrated to their beds and with a lot of tossing and turning they fell out of their beds!

Here are some pictures of those two events, sorry for some of the blurred puppies during tug of war.

Week 4 – Puppies playing and eating

Let me start with the update then the video. Our puppies are getting their teeth and their personalities. They are eating an oatmeal, Esbilac, Raw lamb diet and we will add rice in the next few days. They are closing in on 4 lbs and working on their toilet training. they are such joys!

We put together a montage of their eating, playing, trying to nurse and running around, we hope you enjoy! we didn’t ad a sound track because the yipes they make are so cute!

Week 4

Moving to our new pen!

As week three ramps up, lots of things are happening, their paws have been shaved to give easier access to clipping their nails, they have gotten their first dose of de-wormer and they are starting to learn to eat from a bowl, this will lead to weaning from the mother.

The biggest news is they are starting to migrate from the whelping box to the play pen! a 12×14 caged area where they will have enormous area to run and play. The system has integrated crates so they will slowly be introduced to crate training over the next several weeks. For now they sleep in the whelping box but are playing and eating in the play pen.

Here are a few pictures of them as they play. explore and rest in their new area!
